Co-Head of Forecasting and Economic Policy
Timm Bönke heads the team of Forecasting and Economic Policy at DIW Berlin joint with Geraldine Dany-Knedlik. Timm Bönke’s expertise lies in the areas of labor market economics and public economics.- In particular he works on the long-term development and distribution of income and wealth, the design and incentive structure of welfare state institutions, as well as the evaluation and optimization of tax-transfer systems and public expenditures. Before joining the DIW, he was Junior Professor for empirical public economics at Freie Universität Berlin. Stations of his career so far have been the universities of Vienna, Uppsala, Berkeley and New York. Timm Bönke studied and received his doctorate at the Free University of Berlin.
