Climate Policy Department
Dr. Olga Chiappinelli joined the Climate Policy Department in March 2016. In 2015 she obtained her PhD in Economics from the IMT Institute for Advanced Studies Lucca. She holds BSc and MSc in Economics from the University of Siena. During her studies she spent visiting periods at the University of Oxford and the University College London. Olga Chiappinelli is an applied microeconomic theorist. Her main research interests are Public Procurement and Regulation, with a particular focus on environmental aspects. Her research has been published in Economic Inquiry, Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, Scandinavian Journal of Economics and Climate Policy. Since 2016 she has been involved in a number of projects on policy design for industrial decarbonization at both national and international level and for the EU Commission. She has organized a number of multi-stakeholder workshops and co-authored a number of reports in the context of the Climate Friendly Materials Platform, a EU wide project on policy design for indusrial decarbonization. She was invited as speaker on policies for industrial decarbonization in a number of events in various EU countries and in Brussels. Her work on policies for industrial decarbonization, and in particular on the role of Green Public Procurement has been cited in the media. She is also a member of the Berlin Economic Research Associates (BERA) Program and Berlin Centre for Consumer Policies (BCCP).
