The SOEP team was happy to welcome Rainer Siegers
on February 1, 2010. Having already helped to improve the basis for income analyses using SOEP data as a SOEP student intern in 2007, Rainer has since completed his Master of Science in Statistics at the Free University of Berlin and now joins us in a multi-year project on the collection of a new dataset on German families (Familien in Deutschland, FID). His responsibilities will include making this complex dataset more user-friendly.
The data will initially be used in the evaluation of family policy measures implemented as part of a major project of the Federal Government. After completion of this evaluation, we hope to make the data available to all SOEP users.
Rainer Siegers' research interests include the imputation of missing values, weighting of cases, and the integration of the new FID data into the existing SOEP datasets.
